What we do for our hummingbirds…

They are beautiful, colorful, tiny and so fast…

Two kinds of hummingbirds live in our neighborhood all year around. Anna’s hummingbirds and Rufous hummingbirds are common on the West coast of Canada.

During Winter, we fill the feeder with “birdie juice” -sugar in water- for the ones that do not migrate to warmer places. When it gets too cold, and the juice freezes, we thaw it out for them. We even built a roof over the feeder for rainy days. When Spring comes, we plant the flowers that they like on our deck… Fuchsias and nasturtiums seem to be favorites.

One would think that our birdies would appreciate our efforts and accept to pose for a couple of pictures. Well, I have hundreds of pictures –blurry pictures, and only a few sharp ones…
